Efficiency is crucial

„Because efficiency is key “ — this motto is reflected in our portfolio of diverse, customized solutions for practically all types of surface treatment. Efficiency is also the key issue in the mobility of tomorrow. We at DECKER play a key role in many of these developments.

Efficiency means speed. And that determines success or failure. Processes such as the market launch of the BMW iX are precisely timed. Anyone wishing to supply parts for this new flagship in the Bavarian premium manufacturer’s e‑fleet must adapt precisely to the requirements and the schedule. Like a supplier company in Slovenia that supplies components for attaching the battery tray. The pickling and passivation system required for this has a very individual requirement profile — it needs a lot of experience, quick comprehension and fast and strong implementation skills. The company from Slovenia found a partner that meets all these requirements in us.

Into the new age of mobility with DECKER

We move a lot in terms of mobility. Be it fully electric start-up cars, renowned brands such as AUDI (e.g. the Q5 etron) or the electric car from Munich — they are all jetting into the new age of mobility with parts that owe their special surface properties to an immersion in DECKER systems.

In Slovenia, this pickling and passivation system consists of two modules that are 14 meters long, 2.90 meters high and 2.85 meters deep: optimized dimensions for truck transport. After delivery in May, our team completed the quick installation on site. The system is loaded and unloaded fully automatically by robot.

In this specific case, a local „preferred candidate“ of the client took over the automation. „That’s one of our strengths — we can also integrate external specialists who understand their job into our system at any time,“ says DECKER Managing Director Bernhard Hilliges.

Broad portfolio for numerous applications

Motorcycle cylinders, electric car components and even parts from Airbus landing gear (as installed in the A 350): The connection to mobility is close and intense for us. However, it is only one of a whole range of possible applications. Drums for the construction industry are an example of this. Another demand is now flourishing again after the coronavirus restrictions: silicon etching systems for the Chinese market. „We may be involved in modern vehicles several times over: Through component surface treatment and because the silicon for the installed chips comes from one of our systems,“ says Hilliges.
